Job Description

- Reporting to CIO


To lead the eCommerce technical function in delivering a market leading Omni channel digital ecommerce platform across desktop, mobile and app platforms.  The deliverable is simply to grow the online sales to 250m USD online and the role therefore requires the development of an innovative and dynamic technology platform that is robust, fast and agile.  The Head will be expected to build his own management team, implement his preferred development methodologies (agile, scrum, waterfall) and have experience and be comfortable with both in house and outsourced resource models.  The Head will support the business in the delivery of the business requirements and develop and implement best practises for delivering features and enhancements whilst owning the technology strategy and roadmap    

Key Accountabilities:


• Platform and technology Strategy
o Desktop, Mobile and app technology strategy
o Subject matter expert on emerging technologies and maintaining an awareness of best in breed eCommerce SAAS platforms.
• Platform availability
o 24/7 availability of all digital platforms and 3rd party integrations including hosting, payment gateway, recommendations engines, search, ERP etc
o Implement processes and metrics to ensure the software development organisation  is fast, efficient and focused and that the products are market ready whilst ensuring high quality
o Investigate and resolve software quality issues and resolve situations based on internal and external resources/3rd parties
• Roadmap delivery
o Delivery of the product roadmap based on the product owners requirements in a timely and on budget with the highest quality
• Team Leadership
o Lead the software development team to drive successful delivery of all product (website, mobile and app) enhancements
o Building, developing and leading a team of engineers, testers, project managers and building a .com culture that has a can do attitude, has a passion for web technology and innovation that delivers sales, conversion and traffic..
o Recruit a world class software development organisation and utilize external resources to drive initiatives and fast high quality releases
o Take a hands on approach to the software development cycle and working with the project management team; develop project and resource plans/schedules, perform day to day project management to ensure successful on time releases, assist in accomplishing all tasks and demonstrate ownership and accountability of the entire product delivery process
o Take a hands on approach to the support and dev ops cycle and working with the team; develop weekly KPI’s and governance for support and De Ops such as bug and support fixes and closure of ticket with internal service desk and 3rd party partners
• Budget management
o Managing the eCommerce technology budget ensuring opex and capex spend is on budget including people efficiently and effectively.
o Ongoing management of the 3 year eCommerce technology budget.




• Degree/Masters in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
• 15 years plus experience of working in software development/ecommerce
• 5 years plus experience in managing full software development function
• 5 years App development experience
• 5 years Dev Ops and SQL Server
• Experience in SAP Commerce / Flutter.
• Must have experience in planning, architecting and delivering mission critical enterprise grade systems and solutions
• Extensive experience in .net and web services with a working familiarly of Java and Angular
• Preferred to be Agile certified.
