Job Description

Develop and execute allocation strategies for specific merchandise department(s). Ensure that the customer has the product they want, when they want it, and where they need it. Manage department’s merchandise levels, by store location.

  • Maintain a well‐balanced inventory levels in direct proportion to sales/potential in each assigned classification to maximize volume (sales) while minimizing cost (transfers/markdowns).
  • Analyze and interpret sales reports and analysis applicable to assigned department(s) in respect to inventory, sales, and sizing with recommendations communicated to cross functional teams.
  • Determine appropriate floorset levels for specified classification using the following parameters; store size, presentation quantities, projected/actual sales volume, index, store location, and store design.
  • Review allocation strategies for replenishment of store inventory levels based upon shipment received (PO/Backstock) to account for substitutions, shortages, seasonality and limited store buys and make recommendations to maximize sales.
  • Analyze, on an ongoing basis, unit performance for area of responsibility; review all aspects of sales performance/trends (as it pertains to style, size, color, price and floor presentation, marketing, etc.) by store, store type, market area, and region.
  • Recommend markdowns/promotions based on inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with cross‐functional teams to apply sizing/color analyses to affect future collections.
  • Protect the integrity of the floorset by allocating newness, executing markdowns, and removal of terminal stock if necessary to maintain appropriate inventory levels per store.
  • Create allocation strategies to support leaseline/promotional/shopping events to ensure proper inventory levels for peak selling periods.
