Reporting to the COO and based at Head Office in Kuwait, the Vice President – Home Furnishings will be given the mandate to launch and spearhead the expansion of the Home Furnishings Division The role To define the 3-5 year business plan for the Home Furnishings Division across all the Middle East To spearhead from start up the implementation of the Home Furnishing division business plan, in order to deliver results in terms of chain expansion & profit To launch the brand as a major new retail concept in the region To set KPIs for the division's top management with inputs from Alshaya's corporate and regional team To be fully accountable for overall Home Furnishings P&L To take ownership of the overall strategy and performance of the Home Furnishings division To lead strategy discussions and to manage quarterly & annual strategy performance reviews To ensure consistency of product & service delivery; agreeing brand standards, ensuring with the management that all stores, staff and processes comply with high-end international standards To ensure adherence to agreements through regular meetings, monitoring and planning sessions with top management To identify business development opportunities to expand the division in existing and new markets, leveraging experience from rest of the business The requirements Strong Home Furnishings knowledge & experience 15-20 years gained in retail environments, including minimum of 10 years in senior management positions Proven track record in Home Furnishings start-up or equivalent is a must Tangible achievements in developing complex major big box retail chains is a must Experience in complex home delivery + installation Cross distribution channels experience, combining B2C store retailing + B2B is appreciated Strong experience at handling complex supply chain businesses Strong multi-country / multi-region retail experience in very large store retail networks Solid multi support functions expertise as a General Manager, combining “hands-on” operational track record and strong strategic skills Business Development and Operational experience gain in large and renowned retail chains is a must Significant multi-national / multi-cultural experience The person Very strong leadership skills Strategic and “Hands-On” at the same time Commercially astute and profit driven Proven track record of delivering success through teamwork Influencing skills & excellent negotiator Comfortable in managing high complexity businesses “Out-of-the-box” thinker, applies and fosters innovation The Package Competitive Tax Free package, incentive scheme + executive benefits |
