Today the Food Retail Division of Alshaya includes the iconic Dean & Deluca brand already established in Kuwait, Dubai and Qatar and expanding throughout the Middle East and Castania, premium Nuts retail. . To realise its highly ambitious and aggressive expansion plan with several food retail concepts under development, the company is currently looking for a proactive, commercially focused and profit driven Senior Executive - Food Retail. Based at Alshaya in Kuwait, the successful candidate will interact on a daily basis with the company's operating board with a view to spearhead the expansion of the division. The Role To be fully accountable for the overall division's P&L and growth To define the 3-5 year business plan for the Food Retail Division across the Middle East To spearhead the implementation of the Food Retail Division business plan, in order to deliver results in terms of brands expansion & profit To coordinate the launch of new brands in the region To set KPIs for the division's top management with input from Alshaya's corporate and regional teams To take ownership of the overall strategy and performance of the division To lead strategy discussions and to manage quarterly & annual strategy performance reviews To ensure consistency of product & service delivery, agreeing brand standards To put special emphasis to product & supplier selection, category management, stock control & profit To guarantee with the management that all staff and processes comply with high-end international Food Retail standards To ensure adherence to agreements through regular meetings, monitoring and planning sessions with top management To liaise with key home principals, acting as head representative on behalf of Alshaya with franchise business partners To identify business development opportunities to expand the division in existing and potential new markets, leveraging experience from the rest of the business Requirements 20+ years gained in premium food retail / grocery / gourmet industry including a minimum of 10 years as a senior manager Successful track record of multi-country / multi-site retail management experience Solid multi support functions expertise (commercial, category management, customer service, brand compliance etc.) at board level Combining some previous "Hands-On" operational knowledge with strong strategic skills Others/Soft Skills Energetic & dynamic Commercially astute and profit driven An influential, proactive and charismatic leader A proven track record of delivering success through teamwork An excellent negotiator Comfortable managing complexity |
